Maritime Security Training
The basic requirement for all security officers looking to work in the maritime industry with credibility is the Ships Security Officer (SSO) certificate. We provide a first-class training package and SSO certification, along with an anti-piracy module to complement the course and help prepare an individual to perform the duties required in an anti-piracy security role.
Crew training can also be conducted onboard and tailored to suit the needs of the crew. With an emphasis on anti-boarding, we will demonstrate how to make the ship a hard target and what to look out for when transiting high density shipping. We will also update the crew on the latest equipment and procedures used in boarding attempts and how to combat them effectively. Culminating with some practical exercises aimed at confidence building, we will demonstrate how the ship's crew can play an active part in vessel security.
There are two areas of training that we can offer:
- Onboard security training for crew members: an awareness course for anti piracy;
- Ship Security Officer (SSO) course: this is a two-day MCA qualification course for security officers looking to qualify for maritime security work. A one-day anti piracy module is included and we also run an optional two-day RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Level 2 powerboat module. Companies employing security consultants are starting to require applicants for employment to have completed this course.
If you are interested in taking part in one of our SSO training courses or would like to enrol your crew in an anti-boarding training course, please contact us for further details.
